Professor
Steve Oliver
Professor Steve Oliver is a 3rd degree Black Belt in Brazilian JiuJitsu under Ricardo Libório. He also has alot of experience in many forms of Martial Arts. Prof. Steve is a hardworking family man who comes from a legacy of world class athletes, with him being the son of New Zealand heavyweightlifter, Don Oliver.
From humble beginnings in the garage of his home to now having 5 branches of Oliver MMA gyms nationwide, Steve is also the owner and operator of the largest Grappling competition in New Zealand; NZ Grappler. Prof. Steve is passionate about giving back to the community and started Oliver MMA as a stepping stone for those who needed a place to call home. His passion and strive to be the best in our sport has seen him train in some of the most elite gyms world wide, alongside some of the most internationally recognised fighters which has allowed him to develop and deliver a curriculum that has been refined for precision training.
Professor Steve’s contribution to the fight scene of Aotearoa is un-paralleled, no matter where you go someone knows him, has sought shelter with him or has been under his guidance.
